Introduction
This single malt from Sweden is aged in bourbon casks, oloroso sherry casks, and Swedish oak casks (which have previously held Swedish birch sap wine... interesting!)
This liquid is described as being bright and floral... like spring. Let's see:
On the Nose
Sweet vanilla hits the nose like a freshly cracked pod, drizzled in honey and then dipped into with a nice slice of crisp green apple. Or Pear. It kept switching between apple and pear for me. Very light undertone hints of Cherry, as well as nutmeg spice.
On the palate
The green apple comes through, with some lemon zest, vanilla too, the honey still present, but I also got some raisins, sultana, maybe ginger and peach. Toasted hazelnut dryness and a peppery finish.
Conclusion
A very tasty whisky from Mackmyra. Just a petty this is a limited edition and may be hard to find in some countries. But, if you can, it's well worth a try!
