Joe Got A Gun Straight Tennessee Whiskey

Joe Got A Gun Straight Tennessee Whiskey

Introduction

Joe Got A Gun is distilled and aged in Maury County, Tennessee, USA. The sample I tried was part of only 20 barrels, in "Batch 1".

The liquid is a corn mash, with charcoal-filtration ( to allow the Tennessee whiskey description). It is made from a mash of 80% corn, 10% Rye and 10% Barley.

On the Nose

I got some Dusty wood, with roasted corn on the cob, fruit like apple and pear, and spices like turmeric.

On the palate

Intense fruit! I got some bananas with caramel, red apple, smoke and a lovely warming tang on the finish.

Conclusion

A decent bourbon, full of fruit and complex notes both in the nose and the taste.

Not as smooth as some other Tennessee whiskey, but that didn’t make it any less tasty.
