Introduction
This whisky comes from the most northerly Speyside distillery. Glen Moray's Chardonnay Cask Finish is part of the Glen Moray Elgin Classic Collection (which also includes peated and port cask finished expressions). There is also a 10-year-old Glen Moray finished in Chardonnay, but this particular one is a non-age-statement.
On the Nose
A lovely sweetness, poached pear and apple, some caramel and nutmeg, and a very strange (and nostalgic) note of sweet bubblegum.
On the palate
Mild and smooth, with a cooling feeling on the tongue, some banana and apricot and vanilla.
Conclusion
This whisky is cheap (around £25 if you shop around), it's tasty, and it's worth having in your collection in my opinion! It's not going to knock your socks off, and you won't be putting it in the pride of place on your shelves, but it's a solid whisky and deserving of much more praise than it appears to get elsewhere online!
