Beware of Fake Whisky Advent Calendars...

Beware of Fake Whisky Advent Calendars...

It's almost that time of year when whisky lovers crack open the first door in our eagerly awaited whisky advent calendars.

But, did you get your calendar from a reputable source?

Drinks by the Dram (producers of the many amazing calendars available on Master of Malt) have released a blog post warning of a known scam, using boxes from their real calendars, or even poorly produced copies, and marketing "too good to be true" prices, to try and dupe unsuspecting folks into buying the fake knock-offs.

And, over on social media, we've seen some of the resulting disappointments which have arrived in the post:

Yes, those are Christmas keyrings. What a disappointment. With only a few bottles of FEW whisky to give the box a slight weight...

The usual warnings would be relevant here: if the price is 'too good to be true', it probably is. If the calendar is coming from a third party selling website (eBay etc) and not the official websites, or those affiliated with Drinks by the Dram, serious caution is required!

But it's not all doom and gloom... To those of you who have managed to bag a real whisky advent calendar, we hope you enjoy all the fantastic drams!
